About House Boat:- The beautiful and unique tradition of houseboats in Kashmir started with the first British residents of Kashmir. As the Maharaja of Kashmir did not allow them to own land, they came to the idea to build their residences on water. After some time, the houseboats evolved from tiny floating homes to luxurious floating palaces. These hand-built houseboats, boasting all the amenities of 5-star hotels, are one of Srinagars unique attractions. The Prince of Vale is one of the most luxurious residences in the already highest ranked Super Deluxe category in Kashmir, 147 ft. long, and 21 ft. wide. It includes five spacious double-bedrooms - all rooms offer electricity, TV with cable connection and modern bathrooms with bathtubs and water pressure of German standard. The cedar interiors are intricately carved and display the consummate artistry of Kashmiri craftsmen. In an initiative to save the nature and the environment, the Prince of Vale is the only houseboat in Srinagar with a seperate state of the art sewage system that does not simply end in the Dal Lake. The furnishings include embroidered native rugs and fabrics, local art, and solidly comfortable Victorian and Edwardian furniture. It also features a comfortable rooftop sundeck from which one can easily enjoy the Himalayan views and the brisk fresh air. A holiday on the Prince of Vale is also an unusual gourmet experience as our guests can enjoy the finest Kashmiri dishes, vegetarian and non-vegetarian including barbecued lamb kebab marinated in fragrant herbs), Rista (juicy, delicately seasoned lamb meatballs), Tabaq maz, fresh saffron rice and Goshtaba, dishes typically prepared only as part of the special Wazwan celebrations.
